The Challenge
A brick ranch home in Alabaster on the I-65 corridor had a large open-plan kitchen and dining area with west-facing windows that received direct afternoon sun from around 2pm. The homeowners had been using heavy curtains to manage the heat and glare, but this made the kitchen dark and uninviting for most of the afternoon. They wanted to remove the curtains entirely and let the natural light in without the heat and glare.
