The Challenge
A large family home in Hoover's Greystone Legacy neighbourhood had glazing on all four elevations — a mix of standard double-hung windows, a two-storey great room with floor-to-ceiling glazing, and a conservatory addition at the rear. The homeowners wanted a whole-home solution that would address heat gain on the south and west elevations, UV protection on the north and east elevations, and a consistent appearance across all windows. The home was in an HOA community with strict guidelines on exterior changes.
The Solution
Solar Busters conducted a full glazing survey and specified a two-film solution: Solar Gard Quantum 50 on the south- and west-facing glazing for maximum heat rejection, and Madico Duralite 40 on the north- and east-facing glazing for UV protection with a near-invisible appearance. Both films have a neutral tone that satisfies HOA requirements. The installation was completed over three days, with the great room and conservatory treated first. Total glazing treated: 2,800 sq ft.

"We'd been putting this off for years because we weren't sure a single contractor could handle the whole house. Solar Busters surveyed every window, specified the right film for each elevation, and completed the whole job in three days. The house is noticeably cooler and the films are invisible. We should have done it sooner."
