The Challenge
A six-tenancy retail strip on Pelham's US-31 corridor had large south-facing glazing that was driving up cooling costs for tenants and creating uncomfortable shopping conditions in summer. Two of the six tenants had also experienced attempted break-ins and wanted additional security protection. The landlord wanted a single-visit solution that addressed both the energy and security requirements across all six tenancies.
The Solution
Solar Busters specified a dual-film solution: Madico Charcool 35 for solar control on all six storefronts, with Madico Safety Series 4 mil applied over the top on the two tenancies with security requirements. The combination delivers 55% heat rejection and holds glass in place on impact. Installation was phased over two weekends, with each tenancy completed in a single session. The landlord received a single proposal covering both film types and all six tenancies.
