The Challenge
A six-unit retail strip at Trussville Crossings had experienced two smash-and-grab incidents in 18 months. The landlord's insurer had flagged the large single-pane storefront glazing as a liability and was requiring remediation as a condition of renewal. The landlord needed a solution that would satisfy the insurer, deter future incidents, and not require replacing the glazing across all six tenancies.
The Solution
Solar Busters installed Madico Safety Series 8 mil film across all six storefronts — 2,800 sq ft of glazing in total. The 8 mil thickness holds shattered glass in place for significantly longer than standard glazing, dramatically increasing the time and effort required for forced entry. Installation was completed over two weekends to avoid disrupting trading. The landlord provided the insurer with the Madico Safety Series specification sheet and installation certificate, which satisfied the remediation requirement.
